Table of Contents

1. Executive Summary

TRG Solutions UK is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050, in line with the UK Government’s commitment to reducing emissions across all sectors of the economy. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our current carbon footprint, reduction targets, and the steps we are taking to lower our greenhouse gas emissions. As a company providing mobile hardware and technical solutions, we recognise the need to reduce our environmental impact and to implement sustainable practices throughout our operations.

2. Meeting the Reporting Requirements

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been developed in compliance with the UK’s Public Procurement Notice (PPN) 06/21, requiring organisations to demonstrate a commitment to achieving Net Zero and disclose emissions in Scope 1, 2, and 3. The plan provides transparent information on our emissions and the steps we are taking to reduce them in line with government regulations.

3. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

We are fully committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050. TRG Solutions UK will take a proactive approach to reduce emissions by investing in technology, promoting energy efficiency, and encouraging sustainable practices across all aspects of our business. We aim to integrate carbon reduction into our operational decisions, ensuring continuous progress towards a low-carbon future.

4. Carbon Footprint Methodology

TRG Solutions UK uses the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol to calculate its carbon emissions, covering Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased electricity), and Scope 3 (all other indirect emissions). Our baseline emissions have been calculated following industry best practices, allowing for consistent tracking of reduction efforts year on year.

5. Baseline Carbon Emissions

5.1 Baseline Year: 2022-23

Our baseline year is set to 2022, representing our initial measurement of carbon emissions across all relevant scopes.

5.2 Scope 1

Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions from company-owned and controlled resources such as natural gas consumption in our headquarters.

Metric Value
Total Kwh Used for 2022 38,085
Total Metric Tonnes of CO2 6.97

5.3 Scope 2

Scope 2 emissions represent indirect emissions from purchased electricity, which is used to power our office.

Metric Value
Total Units Used for 2022 67,574
kgCO2e/kwh 0.24
Metric Tonnes of CO2 16.10

5.4 Scope 3

Scope 3 emissions encompass all other indirect emissions, including business travel, employee commuting, and emissions related to the supply chain.

Mileage Type Mileage (miles) Metric Tonnes of CO2
Total 125,196.00 33.83
Petrol 40,120.00 10.58
Diesel 85,076.00 23.25

6 Current Reporting Year: 2023-24

For 2023-24, TRG Solutions UK has recorded its current emissions to compare against our 2022-23 baseline, helping us track our progress towards emission reductions.

6.1 Scope 1

Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions from company-owned and controlled resources such as natural gas consumption in our headquarters.

Metric Value
Total Kwh Used for 2023 39,923
Total Metric Tonnes of CO2 10.53

6.2 Scope 2

Scope 2 emissions represent indirect emissions from purchased electricity, which is used to power our office.

Metric Value
Total Units Used for 2023 67,412
kgCO2e/kwh 0.24
Metric Tonnes of CO2 15.17

6.3 Scope 3

Scope 3 emissions encompass all other indirect emissions, including business travel, employee commuting, and emissions related to the supply chain.

Mileage Type Mileage (miles) Metric Tonnes of CO2
Total 145,804.00 39.47
Petrol 39,923.80 10.53
Diesel 105,880.70 28.94

7. Emission Reduction Targets

TRG Solutions UK has set ambitious targets to reduce emissions by 30% by 2050. This target will cover Scope 1, Scope 2, and key Scope 3 emissions categories. We will continually review and adjust these targets to ensure they remain aligned with achieving Net Zero by 2050.

8. Carbon Reduction Projects

TRG Solutions UK is actively investing in carbon reduction initiatives such as transitioning to renewable energy sources, upgrading our facilities to improve energy efficiency, and reducing business travel through virtual communication platforms. We will also work closely with our supply chain to implement sustainable procurement practices and reduce their associated emissions.

9. Scope 1: Direct Emissions

(Emissions from sources owned or controlled by the organisation)

  1. Fleet Electrification: Replacing petrol or diesel-powered vehicles in the company fleet with electric vehicles (EVs), reducing direct emissions from company-owned transport.
  2. Building Insulation Improvements: Improving insulation in company buildings to lower heating and cooling requirements, reducing energy consumption.
  3. Reducing the Use of Flights: Minimising the use of air travel for business purposes by encouraging alternatives such as virtual meetings, video conferencing, or using trains for shorter distances. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with air travel, which is a significant source of direct emissions.

10. Scope 2: Indirect Emissions from Purchased Energy

(Emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling)

  1. Upgrading Lighting to LEDs: Retrofitting facilities with LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption and associated carbon emissions.
  2. Purchase of Green Energy: Switching to electricity providers that supply 100% renewable energy (solar, wind, hydroelectric) for facilities.
  3. Solar Panel Installation: Installing solar panels on buildings to generate renewable electricity on-site and reduce dependency on non-renewable energy sources.

11. Scope 3: Indirect Emissions from Other Value Chain Activities

(Emissions from activities across the value chain that are not covered by Scope 1 or Scope 2)

11.1 Employee Commuting Initiatives, Remote Working, and Electric Vehicle Support:

  • Remote Working: Encouraging or expanding remote working arrangements to reduce the carbon footprint associated with employee commuting, lowering emissions from personal vehicles or public transport.
  • Free Electric Charging Points: Installing free electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at company premises to encourage employees and visitors to switch to electric vehicles. This helps further reduce commuting emissions.
  • Carpooling and Public Transport Incentives: Where in-person work is required, offering incentives for employees to use lower-carbon commuting methods such as public transport, carpooling, or cycling.

11.2 Supply Chain Optimisations:

  • Working with suppliers to encourage them to reduce their emissions through energy efficiency improvements or adopting renewable energy in their operations.

11.3 Waste Reduction Initiatives:

  • Reducing waste through recycling programmes, reusing materials, and minimising landfill use.
  • Digitisation and Paperless Operations: Implementing digital tools and systems to reduce paper usage in daily operations, especially with remote working arrangements.
  • Using Only Recyclable Shipping Materials: Committing to the use of 100% recyclable or compostable shipping materials, such as recyclable cardboard, biodegradable packing peanuts, and paper-based tape, reducing waste and emissions from packaging.

11.4 Purchased Goods and Services:

  • Sourcing materials or products from suppliers who adopt sustainable practices, including those offering environmentally-friendly products or services.

12. Leadership

The leadership team at TRG Solutions UK is committed to supporting and driving the implementation of carbon reduction initiatives. We will continue to promote sustainability within the company and ensure accountability at all levels for achieving our Net Zero goals.

13. Declaration and Sign Off
